Main Purpose of the role:   

As a QA Engineer, you will be responsible for setting up our automated test suite and bringing it to the next level. While manual testing remains important for validating user stories and edge cases, your primary focus will be on expanding and maintaining automated tests. You will achieve this by retrieving requirements directly from stakeholders within our company, safeguarding the process of updating existing tests as requested by the development teams, and always looking for ways to optimize the test automation system.

Next to this, you will conduct tests, analyze the results, and report observations to the development team. This includes logging and tracking defects in JIRA, providing clear reproduction steps, and collaborating with developers to ensure issues are properly understood and resolved.

Our Current Situation and Challenges:

We have two development teams, each consisting of around seven people, working on a variety of products. These include web applications, internal tools, and APIs, all of which require robust testing to ensure reliability and performance.

Currently, we have one dedicated tester responsible for both teams, fully integrated into our JIRA workflow. However, as we grow fast, our developer-to-tester ratio has become imbalanced. To improve quality and efficiency, we are looking for a QA Engineer who has experience in setting up automated testing frameworks and improving test coverage.

We’ve seen the clear benefits of automated end-to-end testing with Playwright, but due to limited time and resources, the coverage is still developing. We're now looking for someone with experience to take ownership of expanding and improving the automated test suite, ensuring it becomes a key part of our development process and helps drive efficiency and quality across the team.

Responsibilities:  

• Design and setup the automated integration test suite

• Reviewing software requirements and preparing test scenarios. 

• Design and implement the way of working in the QA team

• Executing tests on software usability. 

• Analyzing test results on database impacts, errors or bugs, and usability. 

• Preparing reports on all aspects related to the software testing carried out and reporting to the development team. 

• Interacting with stakeholders to understand product requirements. 

• Participating in design reviews and providing input on requirements, product design, and potential problems. 

  Knowledge of and experience with:  

• Up-to-date knowledge of software test design and testing methodologies.  

• Working knowledge of test techniques and compatibility with various software programs. 

• Experience with setting up automated integration test suites (preferably in Playwright).

• Excellent communication and critical thinking skills. 

• Good organizational skills and detail-oriented mindset. 

• Experience with end-to-end, integration, and automated testing

• Version control: Experience with Git (GitHub, GitLab, Bitbucket) for source control.

• Proficiency in NodeJS or similar.

• Defect tracking & test management:

  o    Proficiency in test management tools like JIRA, TestRail, qTest, or Zephyr.

  o    Experience in logging and tracking defects effectively.

  Requirements:

• Understanding of manual testing vs. automated testing.

• Embrace a proactive approach to enhancing the test suites.

• Possess a minimum of 3 years of experience in automating test suites.

• Have a background in Engineering, Computer Science, or a similar field.

• Are fluent in English (both spoken and written).

• At least bachelor's degree working and thinking level.

  o   ApiKnowledge of RESTful and SOAP APIs.
